Employers 'must treat staff as well as customers'
Manpower UK has revealed in research this week that UK employers are reporting improved hiring plans for the first time in three years, giving jobseekers a glimmer of hope for their future.
Utilities and the public sector have reported positive hiring territory to the employment organisation, with even the finance and business sector revealing positive growth for the first time in five quarters.
Richard Doherty, group vice-president of solutions and marketing at Jobpartners, explained that while the job market is improving, companies must ensure they learn from past mistakes and treat their employees with the same level of care as their customers.
He continued: "HR departments need to ensure that they have got the key processes in place to support recruitment, employee performance, development and career and succession planning more effectively."
Despite positive signs being shown in the market, official statistics from August 12th found that the unemployment level now stands at 2.43 million, up 220,000 on the previous three months and up 750,000 on the year.
