Employment rate is 'looking better'
Employment figures are showing green shoots in the market as a whole, according to an expert at a recent conference.
Kevin Green, chief executive at the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC), made his comments at the first ever National Convention for his organisation, which took place last week.
He explained: "Confidence is just starting to deploy. Employers are starting to think about strategic buyers, they're starting to say: 'Maybe we will start to think about lifting the recruitment freeze'."
Mr Green added that numerous bosses are making some key decisions and while it has taken a long time to do so, there are a large number of positive indicators.
It is only going to get better, he asserted, as there is a growth in both vacancies and placements over the last month, even though huge volumes are not massively forthcoming.
The REC represents the recruitment industry and has a membership made up of over 8,000 recruitment agencies and businesses as well as 6,000 recruitment professionals.
