Employee reward and benefits news

Skills boost given to 1m workers through Train to Gain scheme

The number of people who have gained a training qualification through the Train to Gain programme has now passed the one million mark, the government has proudly announced.

Chris Scott, the milestone creator, is a process operator at chemical manufacturer William Blythe in Accrington and was able to complete his level 2 NVQ in Business Improvement Techniques in January.

Skills minister Kevin Brennan said that the announcement proves that employee benefits can come in a number of ways and that new skills can further the careers and make a major impact on the employees and businesses involved.

He added: "Train to Gain has been hugely effective and both learners and employers have seen the benefits.

"Chris' hard work and determination is a great example of the results the programme can have and the rewards that are there for employers who invest in their workforce."

The Learning and Skills Council launched Train to Gain in 2006 and it is the government's flagship service to support employers in England.
