Bosses 'should engage' with staff
Besides having a good employee benefits strategy in place, organisations should encourage greater interaction between employees and bosses.
Managers will stand a good chance of securing better productivity if they take "an active interest" in their staff, it has been suggested by an expert.
Shaf Rasul, a Dragon from a Dragon's Den online and judge for the 2010 Orange Leader of the Year Award, advised that managers who lead by example involve themselves in the day-to-day working of the company can help spur business growth.
He said: "It has helped office morale substantially. The staff are getting more involved in the business, they're coming up with suggestions to make the business better."
His comments follow in the wake of new research conducted by the 2010 Orange Leader of the Year Award, which revealed that British bosses were swapping their authoritarian management techniques for a friendlier, approachable attitude to connect with their team members.
