Bosses should encourage communication in the workplace

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) should take advantage of flexible benefits that allow for greater discussion and debate in the office, it has been suggested.

The success of businesses is largely dependent on how well staff members communicate with each other and share best practices in order to further the growth of the organisation.

Martin Lyne, SME marketing director of Everything Everywhere, said: "Employers must ensure they create a culture which promotes positive communication."

He pointed out that owing to technological advancements in the telecommunications sector, businesses can now choose from a wide range of communication tools such as smartphones or video conferencing.

Also, in order to promote themselves as well as push their profiles, businesses should take advantage of social networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook, Mr Lyne added.

His comments follow in the wake of recent statistics published by Everything Everywhere which revealed that good communication skills were the most important asset that was common to all successful enterprises.
