Pay freezes rising in the public sector
The number of employees reporting a pay freeze in the public sector has increased significantly, according to the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD).
The percentage of workers who have had their pay frozen in the public sector has jumped from 30 per cent to 51 per cent.
Twenty-six per cent of public sector workers confirmed that their employers had slashed jobs, while 40 per cent believed that future redundancies at their workplaces were a definite possibility.
CIPD's latest Employee Outlook survey also found that people's confidence levels with regards to new job opportunities had decreased in the past three months.
The number of employees who thought it would be extremely difficult to find a new job if they lost their current employment had risen to 66 per cent, in comparison to 63 per that was recorded in the last quarterly survey.
Recently, the Work Foundation called on employers to put in place employee benefits that would support a greater work-life balance.
