Compensation and Benefits Specialist

As a Comp&Ben Specialist, you will be working within the Cluj People team, as part of our Global People team.

You will be responsible for overseeing, managing and administering everything in terms of our employees' compensation and benefits: payroll process, salary reviews and benchmarking, benefits, etc. Other main projects / initiatives you will contribute to at a local level are related to new HR systems implementation, GDPR, global mobility, HR policies and help prepare various reports for leadership teams and Head of People.



The role and your mission:

  • Manage the Romanian payroll process, salary reviews and conduct various related audits
  • Administration, order management and communication of all our company benefits 
  • Manage all benefit provider relationships (membership, pay, claims, disputes, training etc)
  • Work together with Head of People and the Finance department, provide all necessary data & reports for the bonus calculations and complete annual bonus process – calibrate at a Romania level together with Cluj Leadership Team
  • Own and support GDPR implementation for Romania (policies, compliance, training etc.)
  • Ad-hoc support for global projects as per the business needs
  • Be involved in new HR systems implementation 
  • Understand reward related country regulations and ensure changes are applied as per the law
  • Proactively manage escalations / queries  on reward-related topics
  • Ensure that our reward practices are compliant with local laws and regulations
  • Constantly improve and help create new HR policies and guidelines in line with global Thomsons practices as well  (with guidance from HRBPs, Head of People and Cluj Leadership Team


Your experience and values: 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Romanian 
  • A minimum of 3 years proven experience on a compensation and benefits related role (payroll process / benefits administration)
  • Good inter-personal and strong ownership with the ability to liaise with senior stakeholders at all levels
  • Experienced in working with complex spreadsheets and managing various reports
  • Extensive organizing & administration skills with high attention to detail
  • Strong initiative, influence and high level of autonomy
  • Experience in Tax and National Insurance calculations and processing employee benefits such as meal vouchers, travel vouchers, private medical insurance etc – is considered a plus
  • Ability to work under pressure,with highly sensitive data,maintaining accuracy whilst meeting deadlines
