Cineworld - the leading cinema group in the UK & Ireland - has teamed up with Thomsons Online Benefits to re-launch their employee reward scheme and get ready for auto-enrolment.

Thomsons was responsible for designing and implementing Cineworld's new employee benefit scheme to drive engagement levels through improved communications and to reduce admin costs. Cineworld's previous scheme was failing to deliver the desired levels of participation and demanded heavy administration, leading to a costly and inefficient programme.

Thomsons delivered an integrated solution, offering an extended choice of benefits and introducing salary sacrifice for the first time. Cineworld took advantage of DarwinTM to give employees the power to control their benefits online with minimal administration required from them or HR. Introducing the concept of Total Reward Statement, Cineworld was able to better communicate the value of the benefits package and ensure their employees took full advantage of it.

Branding was an essential aspect of the project. To launch the benefit scheme named 'Star Rewards,' iconic movie scenes were recreated as part of a bespoke communication plan that included brochures and weekly updates to staff. In addition, Darwin's Reward Centre was customised to reflect Cineworld's branding.

"Having previously worked with Thomsons during my time at Fat Face, I had high expectations of what they could deliver," commented Senior HR Business Partner Nicole Tomlinson. "Thomsons didn't disappoint. They were able to understand our requirements and develop a plan to get us there. Their creativity and expertise empowered us to successfully engage our employees and further enforce the culture that makes Cineworld a unique workplace."

With over 4,000 employees in the UK, Cineworld is also preparing to comply with auto-enrolment in April 2013. Thomsons leading auto-enrolment solution will be used to assess, communicate and enrol Cineworld's employees. DarwinTM's bespoke solution will drive a smooth transition for those who will need to sign up to a pension scheme and ensure all information is managed centrally and efficiently.
